Movie review: (horror) “Cold Storage” (2006)

December 11, 2010 at 10:10 pm (dark comedy, horror, movies)

Okay, this is indie horror done right. The script is good, the acting is good, and what a bizarre story. Nick Searcy is amazing as slow but sweet-natured hillbilly Clive, who finally finds the perfect girl. Problem is, she’s dead. Then ever…ything gets complicated when the girl’s sister and boyfriend come looking for her…

This movie is funny, twisted, gross, and even sometimes touching. The very cute and talented Matt Keeslar co-stars. (If you haven’t seen him, check out his Masters of Horror episode, “Family.” It’s one of the best.)

My favorite thing about this flick was that for most of the movie, I had no damn idea what was going to happen next. And that makes me very happy. The last 15 minutes are more predictable, but what the hell, it’s worth the ride.

-Rated R
-4 out of 5 stars
-Probably OK for older teens into horror
