Movie review: (horror) “Survival of the Dead”

December 10, 2010 at 4:24 am (horror, movies)

I really, really enjoyed this entry in John Romero’s zombie saga. He’s gone back to social commentary, this time not ripping on the excesses of society, but on deeply held (if not altogether rational) beliefs and how they can rip a community apart.

Very well written, and the story moves along at a good clip. The zombie girl riding her horse aimlessly is one of the coolest, creepiest things I’ve ever seen on film.

It doesn’t get that gory until the end, but then we get some good ol’ fashioned Georgie Porgie intestine fu. The final scene in the flick is a KICK IN THE ASS. I want a poster of it!

And futhermore, YAY FOR IRISH HILLBILLIES!

-Rated R
-4 out of 5 stars
-It’s a zombie film. Lotsa blood and guts.
