Movie review (horror) “Header” (2006)

December 10, 2010 at 7:24 pm (dark comedy, horror, movies)

Being a horror fan and a gorehound is kind of like being a gunslinger. People are constantly trying to get you to throw down with the goriest, most twisted shizzle they’ve ever seen, hoping that they’re the one who actually gives you something that makes you sick.

Sorry. Header isn’t that movie. But it has a very, very sick and demented concept behind it. (I already knew what it was because I’ve read the Edward Lee novella. But if you don’t know, I aint telling you.)

This is not a good movie. The acting is awful, and the characters talk in a bizarre, mutant Southern dialect that doesn’t exist in nature. It is, however, very funny. The evil old man in AWESOME. In fact, I think he’s the best actor of the lot. The gore is solid and well done. The concept is, well, definitely icky. Props for that.

This flick would be made much more entertaining by adding in large numbers of friends and mass quantities of beer. Or tequila. And if you know who they are, keep an eye out for cameos by Edward Lee and Jack Ketchum. Extra points for the first person to spot them!

Wow…I’ll never look at a hole saw in the same way again.
